Having a hard time chosing a mother/son dance for your wedding? Some clients know exactly what song to play while others struggle with it. It can be difficult to find just the right song. The average time for a special song is right around 2 to 2 1/2 minutes long. Some of our clients combine a mother/son and father/daughter dance. Everyone loves cocktail hour. It’s the kickoff to your celebration that will set the tone for the night. It’s also more of a laid-back setting for guests to mingle while you take photos or catch-up with out-of-town guests. Easy listening music is a great addition to cocktail hour. We can help you set the bar high. Before the band kicks off the reception music, consider adding an ensemble to jazz up the pre-party atmosphere. Meet Dan and Karinne…We had the pleasure of chatting with them about the upcoming celebration and couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to share in their special day.

Wavelength: Where did you meet?
Dan and Karinne: We met while we were both students at the University of New Hampshire.

Wavelength: What do you like most about your venue?
Dan and Karinne: We love that Ocean Gateway is on the water and that it has floor to ceiling windows that look out into the harbor.

Wavelength: Are you incorporating any special touches?
Dan and Karinne: Wavelength has graciously agreed to play two wedding songs for us. We are each dedicating a song to the other.

Wavelength: Why did you choose Wavelength as your wedding band?
Dan and Karinne: We spent a long time looking for a good but affordable wedding band. We were excited to find Wavelength and to learn that they offered affordable wedding packages. After attending a show at the Fireside Inn and Suites in Westbrook, we were thrilled to discover that the band put on an incredible show. They were exactly what we wanted. Johnna (their manager) has been great at being flexible and helping us to incorporate special touches into our reception. We are looking forward to a great night!

Wavelength: What are your honeymoon plans?
Dan and Karinne: We are going to a resort in Mexico for the week following the wedding.

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day this week with love in the air and wedding planning in full swing, we take a look back at first dance songs that have been requested over the years and anticipate the choices for the upcoming wedding season. Real Maine Wedding with Kelli and Conrad

We were so excited to see Kelli and Conrad’s Harpswell wedding as one of the featured weddings seen in the 2012 Real Maine Weddings Magazine distributed at the recent Portland Bridal Show. Their story, A Maine Affair With A Southern Flair, can be found on pages 66-70. Conrad wanted a live band and Kelli couldn’t have been happier to keep the party on the dance floor. Wedding photographer, Kivalo Photography, captured it all! What fun we had!

Winter in Maine and New Hampshire can be quite lovely. If you don’t mind the cold, there are many possibilites a winter wedding or special event can bring. From downtown Portland, the coast, to the mountains in Maine and New Hampshire, the possibilities are endless. As the typical “off-season” for most weddings and special events here in the Northeast, you may find you have more options when planning a winter event. 2011 – Year In Review

We’ve wrapped up our 2011 wedding season and now while celebrating the holidays, we look back at an amazing year filled with weddings, corporate events, festivals, holiday parties, anniversaries and club gigs. This past season has been fabulous and we are honored to have been invited to play for your weddings and events. A big THANK YOU to all the clients who took time out of their busy day to tell others what it was like to work with us. We are very honored! As we wrap up 2011 and get ready for the upcoming 2012 wedding season, we are looking at various pieces of our Signature wedding packages that our clients are most interested in. Wavelength offers dinner/dance wedding packages with an additional option for a customized Signature Event that includes a ceremony and cocktail hour ensemble. Our ensembles perform on-site and sometimes at a different location while the band is setting up and getting ready for your reception.
